We could ask that about any part of life BUT what we want to talk is what society deems as NORMAL and going against the grain
Go to school, get and education and work 9-5 is what ALL parents say
How many of you agree with this? How many of you have had that oh so similar conversation with your parents.
It is true, we do go with what society says and if any point something DIFFERENT is done, then you are going against the grain and would get classed as not being NORMAL.
Why is society scared of going against the grain?
We get bored of doing the same things again and again, we crave that something different and UNIQUE.
So why is society scared?
The answer is…..
They are afraid
If they are afraid does that mean you should be afraid too?
They way you should answer that is to ask yourself a question:
- What do you want to be in the future?
- Who do you want to be?
- What do you want to achieve in 5-10 years time?
- How do you want to be remembered?
It is important to make a plan about YOUR future and to write your GOALS down. If you don’t want to follow the standard grain then you don’t have to. The standard grain is there as a set path where you are guaranteed results as it’s a tried and tested path.
Going against the grain, isn’t for everybody it does involve an element of uncertainty and requires you to be strong, determined and mentally resilient. This is the fear that society doesn’t like…..UNCERTAINTY!
Why doesn’t society like it?
Is that because we don’t know what result we are going to be faced with……BUT …..should that be a reason not to try?
Well let’s ask you…..what happens if you do decide to go against the grain. What will you develop along the way compared to a set path?
